Dallas Canyon fire grows to 43,480 acres

TOOELE COUNTY -- A wildfire that started in Tooele County Friday afternoon has grown to 43,480 acres.

The Dallas Canyon fire is believed to have been caused by lightning and is about 60 percent contained. The fire threatens the habitats of sage grouse, wild burro, pronghorn sheep and raptor birds.

The fire is located north of the Goshute Indian Reservation.

The Bureau of Land Management says the fire is not yet a threat to any buildings or campgrounds.

Nine crews, two helicopters, eight water tenders and one engine were dispatched to the blaze.
