A 16-year-old girl sustained minor foot injuries Monday afternoon in a crash that ended with her vehicle resting on its side and wedged into a tight space.

“[She] couldn’t do this again on a bet,” said Sgt. Peck, Cottonwood Heights Police Department, of the unusual crash.

Peck said the girl was preparing to make a right turn at 2475 E 7000 S when she was distracted. The girl cranked the steering wheel for a hard right but failed to brake.

The girl lost control of the vehicle, which then hit a curb on the left side of the road, shot across traffic, jumped a curb and went down an embankment.

The car landed on the driver’s side, between the embankment and the foundation of a building. The girl was able to climb out and call for help.

A crane was called in to remove the vehicle.
