UPDATE: According to Rocky Mountain Power, only 124 residents are without power as of 10:45 a.m. Saturday. The remaining residents without power are scattered around the Salt Lake Valley.

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City and Kearns residents had their power restored a few hours after a storm swept through Friday night. However, 16,797 in Park City and Summit County are still in the dark as of 10:30 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Power says there were multiple outages across the Wasatch Front and they had restored much of those residents in the Salt Lake County area. However, 535 in Sandy still remain without power.

A Rocky Mountain Power spokesman said that high winds caused lines to sway and connect, creating a surge that knocked out the power supply in areas hardest hit by wind gusts.

Affected areas included neighborhoods in Salt Lake City, Park City, Snyderville, and Summit County. Summit County (zip codes 84036, 84098 and 84060) and Sandy neighborhoods (84094) are the only areas that are currently affected.

Line crews have been dispatched, but the estimated time of restoration is currently unknown.
