Salt Lake County Mayor declares state of emergency

Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon has declared a state of emergency in Salt Lake County due to the uncontrolled wildfire in the foothills surrounding Herriman and the southwestern portion of the county near Rose Canyon.

“The emergency powers and operations of the County are hereby invoked,” wrote the Mayor, “We will use all resources at our command to fight this wildfire.”

The Emergency Declaration serves as a mandatory evacuation order for the area south and east of Rose Canyon Road. The sheriff is directed to enforce the order.
