WEST VALLEY CITY - A 14-year-old girl was hospitalized after being found underwater in a community pool at a mobile home park in West Valley City.

West Valley City Police say the 14-year-old girl was swimming with a large number of children at the community pool at Mountain View Mobile Home Park, located near 2771 South and 2670 West.

At around 7 p.m., the girl's mother looked for her in the water, but didn't see the girl and assumed she had left to go to the restroom. When the girl hadn't returned a few minutes later, her mother looked into the pool and found her underwater.

The girl's mother and a friend were able to pull her from the water and begin CPR.

"I went to go get her, I dragged her to the cement,"said Jonathan Gonzalez, who pulled the girl from the water and started CPR.

A West Valley City Fire Dept. station is located across the street from the mobile home park and paramedics were able to respond quickly and revive the girl.

The girl was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital where she was stabilized, then airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center for a precautionary evaluation. The girl is now listed in serious but stable condition.
