Mark Macdonald, nutritionist, personal trainer and author of New York Times best-selling book, “Body Confidence,” is helping Big Budah through a 90-day weight loss challenge.

Macdonald and Jodie Winterton, of Gold's Gym, spoke with Good Day Utah on Wednesday about some of the methods Big Budah will be using to change his eating habits and keep his blood sugar levels even.

Macdonald suggests eating every three to four hours for a total of five to six meals a day.  But within those meals, you must have balance, he said.

"Once you understand the amount of protein, fat, and carbs you need every meal, you can eat anywhere, any place, any time," said MacDonald.  "That's what we need to do, we need to education people on how to do it."

Macdonald said it is important to keep your blood sugar level so you have control and choice when you pick foods.

"You have to stay ahead of the curve," said Macdonald.  "Because once your blood sugar is low, you don't crave chicken or tuna.  You crave the carbohydrates, is why when you go into that restaurant with low blood sugar, the first thing you reach for is that bread."
