SALT LAKE CITY -- A man is dead after a hit-and-run incident at 500 South and Main Street on Wednesday morning.  Police are looking for the suspect.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing against the light when he was hit by a dark, midsized sedan.  It happened about 12:30 a.m.

"It was a fairly large gentlemen, and speeds although not excessive are fairly faster, so there is a lot of damage on that car," said Lt. Craig Gleason, Salt Lake City Police.  "Here's no doubt that they knew they hit someone."

The victim is about 50 years old, according to police.  They are not releasing his name at this time.

Police said there are a number of surveillance camera in the area that they hope will help them identify a suspect.

Police are looking for a dark sedan, likely black or green, that is similar to a Honda Accord.  They say it would have significant damage.
