Public education was a hot topic in this year's Legislative session.

Lawmakers made it a priority to fund public education this year, with $40 million going to pay for the 12,000 new students. But potential cuts to juvenile justice centers and services for the disabled have some concerned.

An abstinence-only sex education measure passed both the House and Senate despite strong opposition from lawmakers and some educators.

The health care compact, which would allow Utah to opt out of federal healthcare reform laws and assume responsibility for programs like Medicare and Medicaid, is among the late bills up for discussion.
