‘Baby blues’ vs. post-partum depression

Dr. Susan Pohl, from the University of Utah Healthcare's Madsen Health Center, encourages new mother's to take care of themselves.

Tips include:

  • Talk with someone you trust about how you are feeling.
  • Maintain a well-balanced diet.
  • Be honest with your care provider at all your follow-up appointments.
  • If possible, get outside and enjoy some fresh air, even if just for a few minutes.
  • Ask for help from your spouse and/or friends.  Let them help you with meals or other children.
