Police located a body during a search of a Roy home on Thursday afternoon.

Layton Police Dept. released a statement Thursday saying that a body was recovered, but did not identify that body.

Police had been searching in and around the former home of Daniel Rivera as they looked for evidence in the case of missing person Victor Flores.

Family members say Flores left for Utah from California last May hoping to find work with Rivera. Flores never found that work, mentioning to family that Rivera was acting strange after he arrived. Flores said he was going to return to Los Angeles, but family says he never came back.

Police and neighbors say Rivera rented a backhoe and dug holes in his backyard around the time Flores was last seen.

Police had been digging up large portions of the yard around the house, removing dirt and sifting through with rakes and shovels in the street.

That investigation came to a halt at about 3 p.m. Thursday and the Weber County Attorney arrived a short time later.

Police say they will not be able to identify the body for several days.

Rivera is serving prison time for setting up an attempted murder in 2009 and on drug charges. Police talked with him last summer about Flores' disappearance and he claimed to know nothing about it.
