Josh Watkins is off the University of Utah men’s basketball team, head coach Larry Krystkowiak said Wednesday.

Watkins was dismissed from the team for violation of an undisclosed team rule, Krystkowiak said.

“The integrity of our program as a whole cannot be sacrificed for any individual,” said Krystkowiak in a statement released Wednesday. “The well being of our program will always come first. This was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. I really wish Josh well and I hope he remains at Utah to finish his degree.”

The senior guard averaged 15.6 points per game and shot 39.1 percent this season with the 4-13 Utes.
