    OGDEN, Utah — A former science teacher and scout leader recently convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday. Kenneth Prince, 61, is accused of sexual abuse while he was a junior high school teacher in the ’80s.   • Crews work to fix potholes on Utah roads

    Now that it’s officially spring, UDOT crews are trying to deal with potholes that developed on Utah roads during the winter. A harsh winter took a toll on state roads. Moisture turned to ice, which then thawed and cracked the pavement, leaving behind holes six to eight inches deep. UDOT crews fix about 20 to 30 potholes a week.   • Former Riverton High School teacher charged with rape sentenced

    WEST JORDAN, Utah — A former teacher who plead guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student was sentenced Tuesday. Courtney Jarrell faced up to three years behind bars, but was instead sentenced to probation, community service and a fine. Jarrell taught math and coached a basketball team at Riverton High School before she was charged. Since then, she has admitted guilt and surrendered her Utah teaching license.   • Multiple vehicles involved in crashes on I-215

    SALT LAKE COUNTY — Multiple vehicles were involved in an accidents on I-215 Wednesday morning. The accidents happened around 9:30 a.m. in the I-215 southbound lanes near 4300 South. Six vehicles were involved in the accidents. Five vehicles were involved in two separate accidents and an additional vehicle slid off the road in the same area. Utah Highway Patrol troopers said everyone was wearing their seat belts, and no one was hurt in the accidents.

  • Burglary suspect in custody after getting stuck on beam

    SALT LAKE CITY — A man was taken into custody after he allegedly broke into a steel fabrication shop and got stuck while hiding from police Tuesday. It happened at the Mark Steel Corporation near 1200 West and 200 South. According to police, the suspect broke into the warehouse and tried to hide from police by climbing up several stories.
