Man arrested after high-speed chase through Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – A man is in custody following a chase that reached speeds of 100 mph in Summit County.

Utah Highway Patrol Troopers started chasing 44-year-old Theron Jack Simmons in a white Buick on I-80 near Coalville at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities said Simmons abandoned his car at milepost 160 near Hoytsville.

A DPS helicopter and K-9s tracked him and officers arrested Simmons.

Officials said the car had been reported stolen to Unified Police.

Authorities said they found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car and they believe Simmons was driving under the influence.

Officers said Simmons had over $150,000 in outstanding warrants.
