Winter storm brings rain, snow to parts of Utah

The storm continues through Wednesday.

Storm Timing

Valley rain and mountain snow will increase in coverage again Wednesday evening and overnight.

Northern Utah will see a burst of heavy precipitation with the passage of a cold front Wednesday morning.

Precipitation will taper off Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Snow Levels

Northern Utah: 8000-8500 feet dropping to 4500-5500 feet by late Wednesday morning.

Southern Utah: 8000-8500 feet dropping to 6000-6500 feet Wednesday morning.

Additional snow accumulations: Mountains: 8-14 inches with locally higher amounts. Little to no valley accumulation impacts.

Periods of heavy snow will create hazardous driving conditions on high elevation roads across Utah such as SR-20, SR-143, Daniels Summit, Boulder Summit and Logan Summit.

Salt Lake City:  

Wednesday: Rain in the morning, then rain and snow likely in the afternoon. Cooler. Little or no accumulation. Highs around 40. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the mid 20s.

St. George: 

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of rain in the morning. Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 50s. West winds 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 30s.
