Power restored after Christmas night outage in Washington County

SOUTHERN UTAH — Power has been restored to residents of St. George and Washington City after a widespread outage late Monday night.

St. George Police said a transformer blew, causing the outage.

Officials with Washington City, near St. George, stated their outage was caused by a “fault on a transmission line from pacificorp that feeds us.”

A statement on St. George’s Facebook page said power was restored shortly before 11 p.m.

Washington City officials said power was restored to most areas in the city shortly before 11 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Power reported 332 customers in the 84720, 84721 were without power as of 7 a.m. Tuesday.
