Police officer shot in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY – The West Valley City Police Department has confirmed that a police officer was shot Tuesday evening in West Valley city on 1250 West. and 3301 South.

According to police, around 7:24 p.m. they received a call from an officer saying they they had been shot, and that the wound was not life threatening.

Shortly after police received the call, two juveniles arrived at a hospital with non life threatening gunshot wounds. Police say the juveniles arrived at the hospital in a vehicle that was seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

The incident is still under investigation by Police. According to West Valley City officials, there is, “very little information regarding what led up to the shooting.”

The officer who was shot has been with the West Valley City Police Department for three years. Police officials believe that they had no further outstanding suspects as of Tuesday evening.

East bound lanes were closed on 3300 South from Redwood Road to 900 West in West Valley, according to UDOT.
