OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University officials confirmed that they found less than a dozen fliers on campus with “it’s okay to be white” written on them.

According to Allison Barlow Hess, PR Director at Weber State, the university is a place for freedom of speech, but also a place where individuals must remain civil to each other with respect and acceptance of diversity.

According to Hess, the posters were taken down quickly once they were discovered.

On Thursday, the Chief Diversity Officer of Weber State University will be holding a “robust yet civil” discussion about posting things on campus.

Earlier this month, The University of Utah Office for Equity and Diversity issued a statement regarding the posting of flyers that read, “It’s Okay to Be White” around their campus.

The posters, printed on blank white paper with one sentence on them, appear to be referencing an idea that originated online, then spread throughout the country.

News outlets across the United States have reported that posters have appeared on numerous college campuses, and even on some high school campuses.
