LAYTON, Utah – Authorities are investigating after a man was shot multiple times in Layton.

Police are asking for help locating a suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Officers said a 32-year-old man was shot a number of times in front of an apartment complex Thursday afternoon near 1650 N. Avalon Dr. (1575 W.).

The victim was flown to the hospital in critical condition.

Police later identified the suspect in the shooting as 31-year-old Eddie Angelo Samora.

Samora lives at the apartment where the victim was visiting.

Officers say the two men got into an altercation which led to the shooting.

According to authorities, the suspect may have left the scene in a dark SUV.

Lt. Von Steenblik of the Centerville Police Department said one of their officers started following a car on southbound I-15 and confirmed it was a vehicle connected to the shooting.

According to a representative for the Layton City Police Department, Samora, another male and a female were in the car that the Centerville officer followed. Those other two occupants weren’t identified, but Layton police said they were both at the apartment at the time of the shooting.

The suspects drove recklessly and ultimately abandoned the car near 900 West and 500 North and fled on foot.

Court documents reveal Samora was charged with attempted homicide about 10 years ago for a shooting on a freeway.

That charge was changed and he served time for aggravated assault.

Police would like to hear from anyone who might have information.
