Underage suspect arrested after 19-year-old man shot at Millcreek home

MILLCREEK, Utah - Police have a juvenile suspect in custody after a 19-year-old was shot in Millcreek, one suspect is still at large.

The victim went to the hospital in critical condition Thursday night and has been upgraded to fair condition Friday.

Police were called to the shooting near 4017 S. 500 E. at about 5:30 p.m.

Unified Police Det. Chuck Malm said the 19-year-old man was standing outside of his home when a car drove up and someone inside began firing.

"The vehicle pulled up, had some words with the victim, some shots were fired. It was moments after that, we believe, that the victim had been transported to the hospital by some friends," Malm said.

The victim was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle and was not on scene when police responded.

Malm said the shooting may be gang related.

Officers said the victim had no known gang affiliation however the two suspects are known gang members.

Police have not confirmed the identities of the suspects or the victim at this time.
