SANDY, Utah -- Two people are in critical condition after a motorcycle collided with a passenger vehicle in Sandy Wednesday night.

Unified Police say the crash occurred at 9754 South Wasatch Boulevard, and police first tweeted about the crash around 8:30 p.m.

Officials at the scene say a Honda Civic was traveling west from Little Cottonwood Canyon and made a left turn onto Wasatch Boulevard, placing the car in the path of a motorcycle traveling eastbound.

The motorcycle collided with the Honda.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 46-year-old male, was flown to a hospital. A woman riding as a passenger on the motorcycle was taken to a hospital by ground ambulance. Both are listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Civic, a 24-year-old man from West Jordan, was not injured. His passenger, a 19-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash, and they are investigating if speed may have been a factor and to determine the cause of the collision.
