WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A West Valley City mom was frantic as she pulled up in front of her home with flames shooting out the side windows.

“I just ran to my kid, I didn’t even look at the house," said Katherine Wing, who's house caught fire around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters quickly confirmed no one was injured in the fire, despite how quickly it burned.

"The house was totally engulfed in fire," said West Valley City Fire Chief John Evans. "Fire crews were able to knock it down. It was a total loss."

Fire investigators are still working to try and determine how it started, by Wing shared her thoughts.

"My sister was cleaning the kitchen like she always does and my mom was looking around and noticed the couch was on fire," Wing said.

The family of seven will be put up for the evening at Homes2 Suites by Hilton. The Red Cross will assist the family moving forward beyond that.

Loved ones have created a GoFundMe page to assist the family.
