Two South A division teams squared off on Wednesday night at Sertoma Park. The game was full of end to end action and some outstanding technical skill as the U12 Boys teams, UCSC Alpine Aces and Utah FC played each other. The first half was particularly exciting as all 4 goals were scored.

After a couple good chances from both teams including some outstanding saves by the keepers, Man of the Match, Utah FC’s #10, Luke Berlin beat a couple of defenders before putting the ball across the face of the goal for a tap in by #18 Jonathan Lindsey II AKA “Lex”.

The first goal really seemed to get Utah FC going as the didn’t let up and sent attack after attack at the Alpine Ace goalkeeper. A long free kick into the box seemed harmless enough until Luke Berlin got a toe on it and it unluckily skipped in and out of the keepers hands and into the net. Not satisfied with a goal and an assist, Luke picked up the ball in midfield and raced away on a breakaway firing low and hard in to the back of the net for his second goal.

With the score line 3-0 in favor of Utah FC, the Alpine Aces needed something to break their way. Right before halftime they got their wish as a cross into the box found #14 Mark Bybee all alone and he beat the keeper to make it 3-1 for the halftime score.

The second half was the Cameron Nielsen show as the Utah FC goalkeeper made several outstanding saves under tremendous pressure as the Alpine Aces threw numbers forward in hopes of getting back into the game. They came close multiple times but Cameron Nielsen was always up to the challenge and the team defense of Utah FC made several important blocks.
Utah FC had several promising looks of their own in the second half but with nothing doing, the final score was 3-1 to your winner Utah FC.
