SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Salt Lake City police are investigating a shooting that took place around 1:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Lt. Craig Smalley says the first call of a man shot twice was dispatched as happening outside the "Wasted Space" bar located at 342 south State Street.

Lt. Smalley says police later determined the man was shot outside of the "Circle Lounge' just down the street.

The victim was shot in both hips, but the injuries are not life threatening.  Lt. Smalley says the victim is not cooperating with police.

Investigators recovered two shell casings at the scene, and witnesses say they saw several people jump into a gray SUV.

The shooting appears to be gang-related, and the Metro Gang Unit has taken over the investigation.

The only description of the suspected shooter is that he is a heavy-set Hispanic male, about 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing between 220 and 240 pounds.
