Two jailed after SLC police spot drug paraphernalia within child’s reach

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police booked two adults into jail for child endangerment after officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view and within the reach of a child Tuesday.

According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, officers made contact with a suspicious vehicle around 11:33 a.m. Tuesday near 200 South and 500 West.

The officers noticed drug paraphernalia inside the car in plain view and within the reach of a 12-year-old child. Police arrested 35-year-old Joshua Keys and 37-year-old Kimberly Koich-Keyes and booked them into jail for child endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Division of Child and Family Services was notified and the child was taken to the Christmas Box House, which is an emergency children’s center in Salt Lake City.
