SOUTHERN UTAH — A 3-month-old child was flown to a hospital Wednesday after a single-vehicle rollover in southern Utah, and the girl’s mother and another infant also suffered minor injuries.

Trooper Evan Kirby of the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on State Route 56 near mile post 38 around 5 p.m.

A Chevy Impala began to drift off to the right side of the road and then over-corrected to the left, leaving the road and hitting an embankment before starting to roll.

Two 3-month-old children were in car seats, but Kirby said the car seats were not properly installed. One of the babies came out of a car seat and was found lying inside the car after the crash.

That infant appears to have non life-threatening injuries, but was LifeFlighted to Primary Children’s Hospital. The mother and the other baby were taken to Cedar Hospital via ground ambulance with minor injuries.

Police are investigating speed as a possible factor in the crash.
