SALT LAKE COUNTY - As the snow creeps closer to Salt Lake City, drivers heading up into Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyons are getting the first glimpse.
"I'm actually setting on my snow tires," said Paul Beliveau, who pulled over at a park-and-ride area to change out his snow tires on his car.
"It's easy for me," he explains. "I used to work at GoodYear."
Electronic billboards displayed chains and four wheel drive requirements for those heading up, though not everyone followed the guidelines.
"We're getting gassed up and geared up," said Jake Brown, Operations Manager for Utah Department of Transportation. "We're ready for the storm."
Brown said that a fully-staffed team will man the snow plows from 8 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday. Then, a new shift will trade out.
"We should be getting snow on the benches and in the valley by nightfall," Brown said. "Tomorrow morning, give yourself time. You could wake up to a white lawn, and some slushy roads. I don't know about full on road snow but it could happen."
