Missing man found after hospital employee recognizes patient from news reports

UPDATE: Police confirmed around 7:30 p.m. Saturday that Christopher Kingston has been located and he is safe.

Police got a call around 6 p.m. Saturday from employees at a West Valley City hospital who recognized Christopher after seeing him on news reports.

The missing man, who functions at the level of a 10 year old, had been admitted to the hospital earlier Saturday morning, but it wasn’t until later the staff realized he was a missing person.

Salt Lake City PD had encountered Christopher as he was wandering alone in the area of 1300 South and 1000 West early Saturday morning. Because he did not respond to questions from police, he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

Police said the man was dehydrated but is otherwise OK.

SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are asking the public for help finding a man who functions liked a child and is considered endangered after he went missing Friday amid cold weather.

Police say 20-year-old Christopher Kingston functions at the level of a 10-year-old child, and they are concerned about him due to the cold weather and his lack of necessary medications while away from home.

Kingston was last seen Friday at about 3 p.m. in the area of 2800 South State Street in South Salt Lake.

The man stands 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and short brown hair.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark gray hooded sweatshirt along with white tennis shoes.
