Texting and driving can be dangerous, and a new “Star Wars” themed campaign is hoping to “End Text Wrecks” by encouraging people to Dance the Wookie then challenge others to do the same.

The campaign features several videos of people doing a particular dance, and it’s all aimed at increasing awareness for the dangers of driving while texting. Each participant completes the dance routine and pledge, then challenges others to do the same.

So far many Utahns have participated by Dancing the Wookie, including the BYU Cougarettes, the Unified Police Department, the Utah Spirit Team and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, just to name a few.

The campaign also features a longer video featuring a dance battle between some Storm Troopers and several ladies dressed as Princess Leia from her scenes on Tatooine in “Return of the Jedi.”

Visit endtextwrecks.org to see the other Dance the Wookie videos or to upload your own. The site also includes instructions on how to Dance the Wookie.
