Investigators said an officer tried to stop a driver for speeding near 3600 S. and 1500 W. but they took off.

Officers didn't chase the suspect because of the road conditions but kept tabs on him by watching his tail lights.

Another officer tried to pull over the suspect a second time and he sped off again.

Police chased him until he turned into a cul-de-sac, jumped from the car and ran off.

"He didn't put the vehicle in park so the vehicle did strike the house here behind me causing minimal damage," West Valley Police Sgt. Robert Brinton said. "Our K9s were on scene and were able to locate the suspect through a K9."

Authorities said the suspect's sandals flew off his feet when he jumped from the car.

The suspect is now facing several charges including driving under the influence and running from police.
