PROVO, Utah – Elsie Mahe, the 3-year-old daughter of BYU running backs coach Reno Mahe, remains hospitalized after getting tangled in the cords from a window blind earlier this week.

A family spokesman said Thursday that Elsie is being kept sedated, and he said the swelling on her brain has gone down.

She is receiving anti-seizure medication, and there are tests scheduled for later this week that should give doctors a better understanding of her injuries.

The family is waiting and watching for signs of improvement, and they said they are grateful for the continued prayers and support from the community. Donations for the family were collected Thursday morning at an annual football game in Salt Lake County that Mahe has participated in during previous years.

A GoFundMe account set up to help the Mahe family has raised nearly $40,000 this week.
