OGDEN, Utah — Several children were killed in a bus crash in Chattanooga this week, and the Weber State Wildcats are encouraging their fans to donate to that community ahead of Saturday’s game in Tennessee.

The Weber State Wildcats will play at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Saturday in the 2016 NCAA FCS Playoffs, and members of the athletic department said they want to offer their support and love for the community after the tragedy.

“Athletics is a vehicle to bring people together for something bigger than the game and this is an opportunity for all of us to come together and think about others,” stated Jerry Bovee, Weber State’s Director of Athletics. “This is an awful tragedy and we want to do our part to support them.”

The athletic department and football program are asking Wildcat fans to show their support for the community by donating here. All proceeds will go directly to the families involved in the crash, according to the press release.

“”Earlier this year, my wife was diagnosed with cancer,” WSU head coach Jay Hill stated in the press release. “When we played at South Dakota shortly after her diagnosis, their fans came together to support her and our family. Playing in Chattanooga this weekend provides our program a great avenue to pay that support forward. I will be the first to donate, and I’m calling on all Wildcat fans to support as well.”

Both teams will also be wearing stickers on their helmets for Saturday’s game.
