SALT LAKE CITY — Police in Salt Lake City responded to a report of gunfire between two vehicles Saturday, and two men were treated at hospitals for minor gunshot wounds.

Lt. Robin Heiden, Salt Lake City Police Department, said they received reports of gunfire between two vehicles or a possible road rage incident. Fox 13 News first heard reports of the incident around 5 p.m.

“We responded and found a 23-year-old male who had been shot in the leg at about 1100 South and 500 East,” Heiden said. “….We now have a second victim that’s shown up at a local hospital who we will be speaking with as well to see if they are involved in this.”

Heiden said the 23-year-old man who was shot in the leg was inside a vehicle when the shooting occurred, but she said the case is still being investigated and few further details were available.

Detectives will be interviewing witnesses as well as the victims to try to determine what happened.

“We don’t know if it’s gang-involved, we just don’t know at this point,” Heiden said. “We’ve got two males who have been shot, very minor wounds to both of them, but we don’t know what was behind the whole thing at this point.”

Fox 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
