SNOWBIRD, Utah - Snowbird Ski Resort had hoped to open next Saturday, but a lack of snow and cold temperatures, have forced a delay, according to a news release.

"Due to unusually warm temperatures thus far in November, Snowbird will not be opening for the season on Saturday, Nov. 19, as originally planned," according to a spokesperson for the resort in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Earlier in the week, Fox 13 News' Kiersten Nuñez spoke to experts about recent weather trends and what that means for the ski season. See the video above for her report from Thursday.

Saturday's statement goes on to say, "Forecasters are calling for a storm with colder temperatures next week and our Mountain Operations team will be working hard to get the mountain ready for opening as soon as possible."

Snowbird hopes to open Saturday, Nov. 19 and tells skiers to check its websitefor updates.
