TEMPE, Ariz. — The No. 13 ranked Utah football team rallied back from a slow start to beat Arizona State 49-26 in Tempe, Arizona Thursday night.

The Utes turned the ball over on fumbles on their first two drives of the game, and they fell behind 13-0.

But Utah quarterback Troy Williams led the comeback in the second quarter with three touchdown passes to give the Utes a 21-20 lead at halftime. Williams finished with four touchdown passes while throwing for 296 yards.

Utah running back Joe Williams broke free for two touchdowns in the second half, from 82 and 40 yards. He racked up 181 yards rushing yards on 15 carries.

Utah’s defense was also solid. Hunter Dimick broke a school record and tied a Pac-12 record with five sacks. His 27th career sack ties the school record. Chase Hansen also returned an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Utes are now 8-2 overall, and 5-2 in the Pac-12. If they win their final two games against Oregon and Colorado the Utes will play in the Pac-12 championship game.
