WEBER COUNTY, Utah — Additional charges have been filed against a man accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a child in a case that prompted an Amber Alert in October, and charging documents allege there was an additional child victim.

Weston Ray Kubbe was arrested in October after an Amber Alert was issued for a missing 11-year-old boy, and the man has a history or working with children in after-school programs and as a substitute teacher.

The missing child was ultimately found at a Best Buy in Murray, and the suspect was arrested at his home nearby. He faced two charges of kidnapping along with a count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of enticing a minor, all felony charges, in that case.

Wednesday, charging documents showed additional counts against Kubbe, and the statement of probable cause indicates a 14-year-old was also targeted by the suspect.

The 11-year-old in the case told police that he and a 14-year-old boy went to Kubbe’s home on October 8 to stay the night. Kubbe allegedly gave the boys gummy candy laced with THC, which is the main psychoactive component of marijuana.

The 14-year-old told police he had gone to the home on September 28, where he smoked marijuana with Kubbe, and he said during that visit Kubbe touched him inappropriately.

When Kubbe was arrested, police served a search warrant on his residence. They located a bag of marijuana, jelly beans and gummy bears laced with THC, two bongs and three rifles. Kubbe was also in personal possession of a loaded pistol at the time of his arrest.

Kubbe met the teenage boy online. The parents of both boys said their children did not ask permission to go to Kubbe’s home. In the case of the 11-year-old, parents found a note in their son’s handwriting but said they felt the contents of the note were coached.

“I found a note on his pillow that said something to the effect of, ‘I love you and I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. I’m safe and I’ll be back pretty soon, unless you call 911 then I won’t be back,'” the boy’s father told Fox 13 News in October.

In addition to the four felony charges already listed, Kubbe has also been charged with two counts of kidnapping as second-degree felonies, two counts of exposing a child or vulnerable adult to a controlled substance as third-degree felonies, and four counts for possession of a firearm by a restricted person, which are third-degree felonies.
