SALT LAKE CITY — A new survey released by Utah Policy Thursday shows Donald Trump with a narrow lead over independent candidate Evan McMullin in Utah, while Hillary Clinton trails in third place.

The survey of likely Utah voters was conducted by Dan Jones & Associates and commissioned by UtahPolicy.com, with the majority of the survey being conducted after video footage of Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women went public but before the end of the third presidential debate on Wednesday.

The survey shows Donald Trump with 30 percent, while McMullin has 29 percent and Hillary Clinton is at 25 percent. Libertarian Gary Johnson has fallen to 4 percent after reaching as high as 16 percent in Utah in previous polls. The margin of error is just under 4 percent.

Of the Utah Republicans surveyed, 48 percent backed Trump while 37 percent supported McMullin.

Support for candidates also varied by religious affiliation and activity level. Among “very active” members of the LDS Church, McMullin leads Trump 43 percent to 31 percent. Among “somewhat active” members of the LDS Church, Trump has a 15-point lead over McMullin at 37  percent to 22 percent.

Hillary Clinton holds the lead among “not active” members of the LDS Church, securing 36 percent of voters in that group to Trump’s 33 percent and McMullin’s 13 percent. Catholics also prefer Hillary Clinton by a wider margin at 55 percent compared to Trump at 26 percent and McMullin at 5 percent.
