UINTAH COUNTY, Utah — A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting death of a Doberman dog in Gusher.

On Oct. 8, the dog’s owner Jessica Petty posted on Facebook that she discovered her pet, named Chunk, shot to death under her jeep. After reporting it to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and animal control, she has decided to offer a $1,000 reward for information on the shooting of her dog.

The Humane Society of Utah is contributing $1,000 to the reward.

“We hope this additional reward helps bring justice for Chunk and her family,” said Gene Baierschmidt, HSU executive director. “There are too many unanswered questions surrounding this situation to ignore. The discharge of a firearm near the Petty residence and the resultant death of their family pet are tragic. We extend our sincere condolences to the Petty family.”

Anyone with information regarding Chunk’s death is asked to call John Fox, chief investigator with the Humane Society, at 801-261-2919 at ext. 210.
