Anne Kieryn, MD with Jordan Valley Cancer Center shared 5 things to know after you have been diagnosed with cancer.
- Don't take everyone's unsolicited advice. Make a plan that works for you.
- Ask questions. Write down questions to ask your doctor and write down the answers you get. Take someone with you.
- Support groups. Have friends do specific things like laundry or mowing your lawn. The American Cancer Society has a 24/7 hotline where you can talk to a real person and ask them questions at any time.
- It is a long haul. Recovery takes time.
- Don't lose hope.
Dr. Kieryn encourages everyone to go and get a mammogram!
