Anne Kieryn, MD with Jordan Valley Cancer Center shared 5 things to know after you have been diagnosed with cancer.

  1. Don't take everyone's unsolicited advice. Make a plan that works for you.
  2.  Ask questions. Write down questions to ask your doctor and write down the answers you get. Take someone with you.
  3. Support groups. Have friends do specific things like laundry or mowing your lawn. The American Cancer Society has a 24/7 hotline where you can talk to a real person and ask them questions at any time.
  4. It is a long haul. Recovery takes time.
  5. Don't lose hope.

Dr. Kieryn encourages everyone to go and get a mammogram!
