The November 8th Election is only a few weeks away! Below are 6 things you need to know to vote in this historic election.

  1. You can register to vote (or update your voter registration) right now

If you have a current Utah driver’s license, registering to vote only takes 3 minutes at vote.utah.gov. If you prefer to register with a paper form, you can download and print it here. You have until October 11th to postmark a paper registration form and November 1st to register online.

Not sure if you’re registered to vote or if your registration is updated? Check with your county clerk’s office. If you recently moved, you will need to update your registration.

  1. You can vote by mail

If you live in a county that is conducting its election entirely by mail (see the chart to your right) and your voter registration is up-to-date, you will automatically receive your ballot in the mail. Your ballot will arrive around October 18th.

If you don’t live in one of these counties, you can still vote by mail! Request a mail ballot by submitting a new registration form at vote.utah.gov or sending a paper application (link) to your county clerk’s office. Your clerk must receive this request by November 3rd.

Make sure to postmark your ballot by November 7th! If you forget, don’t worry! You can always drop your ballot off at a polling location, ballot dropbox, or your county clerk’s office on Election Day.

You also can track your ballot by going to vote.utah.gov.

  1. You may be able to vote early at a polling location

Some counties offer early voting at polling locations between October 25th and November 4th. Check the chart to see if your county offers this option, and check vote.utah.gov to determine early voting locations and times.

  1. You can vote on Election Day

All counties, including those that are voting by mail, offer at least one polling location on Election Day. If you received a mail ballot but prefer to vote in person, simply bring your unvoted ballot to the polling location. The poll worker will take your mail ballot and you can vote in person.

Don’t know where your polling location is? Simply enter your address at vote.utah.gov to find it.

  1. You can easily find information about the candidates and issues at vote.utah.gov

Becoming an educated voter has never been easier! Visit vote.utah.gov and enter your address to see candidate statements and biographies, arguments and analyses for ballot propositions, and evaluations for judges.

  1. You can contact your county clerk if you have questions

Your county clerk will be able to guide you through the registration, mail ballot, and voting process! Find your county clerk’s contact information here.
