RIVERTON, Utah -- Some students with special needs got a special 'pep rally' in Riverton Wednesday.

Football players from Riverton High School stopped by Kauri Sue Hamilton School for special needs students to spend time with them. The students there range from 5 to 22 years old.

The experience was like “Friday Night Lights” for the 200 special students at KSHS. The 67 players and their coach, Brent Hawkins, handed out T-shirts to students that said “Riverton football show us your game face!”

Some of the players sang their fight song for the kids.

“We don’t have a football team, we don’t have these seniors to look up to, so when the guys come in their football uniforms, I think it gives our kids such an awesome experience, something to look up to,” said KSHS principal Rita Bouillon.

This is an annual event that coach Hawkins believes give his players a different perspective and makes them appreciate life more. He said it helps them understand they have all kinds of support and fans, and that it is important to be there for them too.
