Man dies after single-vehicle rollover crash on I-80 in Tooele County

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — One man is dead after a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 80 in Tooele County Monday night.

The accident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. when the 56-year-old motorist, who was traveling east, drifted off the roadway onto the northbound shoulder then over corrected, causing him to lose control, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

The vehicle rolled several times across the median into westbound lanes of traffic and came to rest on the driver’s side on the southern side of the freeway.

Crews arrived on scene and were able to tip the vehicle back upright. Medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the victim who ultimately died at the scene, according to UHP.

The driver was wearing a seat belt. According to UHP they are looking at speed and possible medical condition as cause to the crash.
