TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — Power is being restored for thousands of customers in Tooele County after a train caught on a downed power line and damaged 25 power poles.
Fire officials in Tooele say power lines from a substation were knocked down due to high winds in the area, and those lines cross over the top of railroad tracks.
A train passing by caught on the downed line, and as the train went though the area a total of about 25 power lines were damaged.
Stansbury High School, Rose Springs Elementary and Stansbury Park Elementary are closed Monday, Oct. 3.

Cause: Wire and pole damage due to train hitting down line
Customers affected: Approximately 77 customers are without power, down from 4,056 earlier

Crews at the scene said it will take several days to clean up all of the damage, and there was no clear timeline for when power might be restored.
Authorities said portions of northern Tooele County will be without power for Monday’s commute and traffic signals will likely be dark.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
It was not immediately clear who operates the train in question.
