SALT LAKE CITY — A cyclist suffered minor injuries after they were struck by a police car in an intersection in Salt Lake City Friday night.

According to police at the scene, the crash occurred in the area of 700 South and Goshen Street (1040 West) near the Salt Lake City Police Department’s Pioneer Precinct.

Fox 13 News first heard report of the crash around 7:36 p.m.

Police say the cyclist was eastbound on 700 South and did not have any lights or reflectors on the bike. Two police vehicles traveling north on Goshen Street went through the intersection, and the second vehicle struck the cyclist and knocked them to the ground.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries that included road rash.

The crash occurred inside Salt Lake City PD’s jurisdiction, but, because one of their officers was involved, the crash will be investigated by the Utah Highway Patrol.
