LAYTON, Utah – The storm that blew through Layton last week stopped this driver on the road as it barreled across the street.

James Stimpson said this is what happened to him as he was driving home on Main St. in Layton Thursday.

He said he got off I-15 because he thought it would be safer. Turns out he was wrong.

Stimpson said the light had just turned green when the large sheets of metal blew by and had the cars not moved, they would have been slammed by the debris.

Luckily, he wasn’t hurt and his car had very minor damage.

The National Weather Service said straight-line winds caused this damage in Layton, not a tornado.
