WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A driver slammed into a West Valley Patrol car Thursday morning after losing control of his car.

The crash happened at 12 a.m. near 3500 South 4000 West in West Valley.

Investigators said the officers riding in the patrol car were stopped at a red light when a car hit them.

According to witnesses, the driver crossed the center line and hit the side of the patrol car.

Authorities believe the driver did not intentionally hit the officers or run a red light. The man attempted to stop his vehicle but lost control of his vehicle, police said.

The two officers hit were not seriously injured.

The driver was taken into custody and is being investigated for a possible DUI.
