LOGAN, Utah — An inmate committed suicide and was pronounced dead at the Cache County Jail Tuesday night, according to police.

The incident occurred at 11:10 p.m., and jail staff administered CPR and attempted to revive the inmate using an AED, according to a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office

Paramedics responded to the scene, but the inmate was ultimately pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending a notification of their next of kin.

Police did not provide any further details regarding the death in the press release, and they state the investigation has been turned over to the Northern Utah Critical Incident Investigation Team.

Fox 13 News does not generally cover incidents of suicide unless there is a broader impact to the public, such as in the death of an individual who was in custody.
