SALT LAKE CITY – Police responding to a report of a large fight in the Rio Grande district of Salt Lake City Tuesday evening ultimately found four people who all said they were stabbed by the same man.

Police responded to the area near the Road home Shelter Tuesday evening, and after speaking with witnesses and victims they identified 30-year-old Chris Robertson as their suspect.

Authorities said the reported fight spanned an area covering about a block.

"This is the largest stabbing victim scene that I've seen down here, where we have four, separate stabbing victims, and so this is unusual," said Det. Cody Lougy of the Salt Lake City Police Department. "We've seen this increase, and we've tried to do a reduction. In fact, we have officers stationed down here, we have the community center right here next door, trying to get some help for these people."

Robertson was arrested and booked into jail on three counts of aggravated assault. While there were four alleged victims, one of them refused medical treatment. Robertson also faces a charge for being a restricted person in possession of a dangerous weapon, as he is currently on parole.

Police say they are now also looking for Robertson's girlfriend, who is described as being roughly 6-feet 2-inches tall with blonde or brown hair. Police would like to interview her about the incident.

The assaults come just a week after three different officers responding to various issues in the area near the homeless shelter were assaulted within the space of three hours.
