SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Governor Gary Herbert is scheduled to meet with Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Tuesday, where it is expected he will discuss public lands issues.

The governor’s schedule shows him meeting with Rep. Rob Bishop, House Speaker Paul Ryan and then the Interior Secretary. In recent weeks, the governor has hinted that he may propose his own public lands compromise to Secretary Jewell. He has provided no details about it.

Jewell was recently in Utah on a fact-finding tour as the Obama administration considers whether to designate the Bears Ears area in San Juan County as a national monument. Congressman Bishop is pursuing a public lands proposal that recently got a hearing in congress.
