WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A parolee was captured early Saturday morning after he drove recklessly in Salt Lake City and West Valley City, according to West Valley Police.

A West Valley detective in an unmarked car followed the man for some time after seeing him drive at dangerously high speeds.  After the suspect noticed a patrol car was following him, he tried to get away, police said.

“He fled from that crash about one house away and we set up containment and a West Valley bloodhound was able to track him and we were able to take him into custody,” said West Valley Police Lt. Robert Hamilton.

Authorities have not identified the suspect yet.  Lt. Hamilton said the man didn’t have any outstanding warrants, but does have an extensive criminal history with West Valley Police.
