Outdoor expert Kamille Marshall has tips and tricks to get your children excited about the great outdoors!

Educational opportunities are abound in nature, from the magical transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly to the salty sneezes of the marine iguana. An appreciation of nature helps kids understand that they`re part of a larger universe and that all living things serve a purpose.

Getting children outdoors is more important now than ever! Studies show that children who explore the outdoors are happier, more attentive, have increased creativity, test scores, and behavior. Spending time in nature also reduced stress and builds social skills and confidence.

Kids who are out chasing bugs and making new discoveries have more complex brain structures than those who spend hours in front of a computer screen, since experiencing new smells, sounds, sights, textures and terrains actually promotes brain development.

Here are a few tips and tricks to get your children excited about nature.

1- Introduce your children to the award winning Ranger Rick book series at a young age.

Ranger Rick and his friends inspire children to slow down and explore the simple (yet complex) details of the natural world.

Ranger Rick recently received a facelift and is releasing new books! The books are age appropriate, provide great information and the photography is outstanding!
the new book titles are;
Ranger Rick's Travels - National Parks! (for ages 7 & up)
Amazing Animals - Butterflies (for ages 7 & up)
Amazing Animals - Reptiles (for ages 7 & up)
Critter Crafts and Recipes (for ages 4-7)
Busy Moms (for ages 4-7)

Most importantly... keep it simple, have fun and make memories with the ones you love the most!
